If your pet is of long-hair type, remember to comb it daily to prevent matting.
Don't forget to clean your pet's eyes, ears, paws and anal for good hygiene and to prevent infection. Also, it's a good habit to wipe their mouths after each meal with a clean cloth.
Keep away items like string and rubber bands as they are easy to swallow and can cause intestinal blockages or strangulation. Also, place poisonous household plants like azalea, geraniums, dumb cane away from your pet as it may swallow them.
If you are moving and cannot find a suitable candidate to take care of your pet, then you could secure your pet in a room to minimise its stress.
Diet
Never feed human food to your pet. It usually contain high amount of additives, oil and preservatives which would cause skin allergy and hair loss. Also, leftovers like chicken or fish bones may cause your pet to choke on it.
Always ensure there is ample supply of clean drinking water for your pet.
Seek advice from vets or reputable pet shop for suitable type of animal food that is good for their health and oral hygiene.
Exercise
Regular exercise is important for the well-being your pets. You could bring your pet to places like parks and gardens where they could enjoy fresh air and have space for fun activities. Be responsible to other public park users, don't forget to pick up your dog's poop.
If weather does not permit outdoor activities, you can buy some pet-safe toys like balls to play with your pet in the house.
